BnB Extends Back-to-School CSR Initiative to Islamic Primary School

By Mohamed Barrie

BnB Money Transfer has extended its annual Back-to-School Corporate Social Responsibility

(CSR) initiative to D.E.C Islamic Primary School in Yogomaia, Kabala, donating essential educational materials to support pupils at the start of the new academic year.

The donation ceremony, held on Saturday, 17th October 2026, saw selected pupils receive school bags, exercise books, pens, geometry sets and other learning materials aimed at easing the financial burden on parents and helping children prepare for the school year.

Speaking at the ceremony, Umaru Jabbie, Team Lead for Treasury at BnB, thanked the school administration, parents and the Kabala community for welcoming the company. He described the initiative as part of BnB’s annual efforts to support schoolchildren and contribute to educational development.

Jabbie explained that the programme targets 100 beneficiaries. He added that the decision to bring this year’s initiative to Kabala was partly inspired by the company’s connection to the community through its shareholder, Alpha Umar Jalloh, a former pupil of the school.

He encouraged pupils to demonstrate love and unity, acknowledging that the limited number of beneficiary slots meant not every child could receive materials. He urged those who benefited to take good care of the items and remain committed to their education.

Also speaking at the event, Alhassan C. Jalloh reaffirmed BnB’s commitment to supporting underserved communities and promoting education as a foundation for national development.

He emphasised the importance of investing in children’s education to create opportunities for future generations and encouraged pupils and parents to ensure the donated materials were used for their intended purpose.

The Head Teacher of D.E.C Islamic Primary School in Yogomaia expressed gratitude to BnB Money Transfer for the support, describing the donation as timely and meaningful. He noted that many families struggle to afford basic school supplies and said the materials would help support teaching and learning. He also assured the company that the school administration would encourage beneficiaries to use the items responsibly.

Parents and community representatives welcomed the initiative, commending BnB for its contribution to education and encouraging other organisations to support schools and communities across Sierra Leone.

The ceremony concluded with the official presentation of the learning materials to the selected pupils.
