…NLe594k Forestry Cash for Environment Ministry

The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change has collected over NLe594,000 in revenue from forestry-related activities, in a move that underscores government’s push to boost domestic revenue from natural resources.
The revenue, generated from forestry permits, royalties and related compliance fees, was disclosed during the bilateral policy hearing and budget discussion at the Miata Civic Conference Centre, where officials presented it as evidence of improved regulation and enforcement in the forest sector.
Accordingly, to the Ministry’s revenue breakdown, a total of NLe324,316 was collected between January and December of 2025.
The revenue was generated from several sources, including transport permits for charcoal, poles and timber, power saw registration fees, harvest licences for power saw operations, and royalties from Gbalamnya.
For the period January to August 2026, the Ministry reported revenue collection amounting to NLe269,767 from the same revenue streams.
The combined revenue collected for the two reporting periods therefore stands at NLe594,083.
The figures form part of the Ministry’s submissions to the FY2027 budget preparation process, providing an overview of revenue generated from its environmental and forestry-related activities.
