Hon Alfred Ayodele Thompson, Member of Parliament for the Western Area Urban has officially opened the Congo Town Community, Field in Freetown.
The fencing of the Congo Town field consist of facilities which include , artificial state of the earth carpet worth the sum total cost of US$ 7,000 ,and also 150 stadium chairs, basketball Court swings and Seesaw for kids and an additional of three(300) solar light that is on its way to Sierra Leone which would benefit the entire Western Urban from Brookfields Community to Lumley Community.
During the official Opening of the Congo Town Field which coincide with the activity of Muslim observing Eid Mubarak at the congo town field on Sunday 30th March 2025
He said prior to the construction of the State of the Earth Congo Town Field, the land had a turmoil for years, and that as Member of Parliament for Western Area Urban, Congo Town Community, he is happy that he didn’t give up on this dream to build the current Congo Town Community field.
He noted that, he is happy for the Community Field which he has built is being utilise by Muslims to observe Eid Mubarak and other prayers and also Utilise by Christians when they have a major event and also utilize by children and community youth for social activities
He commended some of his colleagues members of parliament who have encouraged him to accomplished this dream to finally complete the construction of the Congo Town Field,
He maintained that the issue of maintenance is an issue of concern and a burning issue in her heart. He pleaded to residents of the Congo Town Community to ensure the field is always kept neatly clean as it would continue to benefit both Muslims and Christians, as well as Children and youth of the Congo town community.
Hon Thompson, slaughter a cow as part of recognizing and appreciating the kids of Congo Town Community who in divers ways have contributed to the construction process of the new Congo Town Community Field
The Regional Imam for United Council of Imam for West one region in Sierra Leone, Imam Alie Bangura, thank Hon Thompson.
He noted that it’s part of the doctrine of Muslims, as the holy Quran has instructed every Muslim to be grateful to someone who has done them good deed(s).
He maintained that both Muslims and Christians that constitute the Congo
Aruna Conteh, a resident of Congo Town Community who is also a beneficiary of the Congo Town Community Field, Aruna Immediately after observing the Eid Mubarak at the Congo Town Field, told this medium in an Interview that, the Congo Town Community Field is Important and beneficiary to both Muslims and Christians because Muslims do observe their prayers in the field and Christian also do utilise it for church service when they have major church activity
Aruna pleaded with Honorable Thompson to continue his good work as he had fulfilled his major promise made to his people which is the construction of the Congo Town Congo Town Community School, and that he do believes that Honorable Thompson has more good development for his people.
He pleaded with his fellow Congo Residents to embrace the Congo Town community field with all their might and that they should handle it with care. Noting that, if the community people fail to handle the field with proper care it would be lost for the people of the Community.
