World Bank Group Appoints Aissatou Diallo as Country Manager for Sierra Leone
The World Bank Group announced the appointment of Aissatou Diallo as Country Manager for Sierra Leone.
In her new role, Ms. Diallo will oversee the World Bank Group’s strategic dialogue with the Government of Sierra Leone and key stakeholders, support the implementation of the country program, and help advance efforts to foster inclusive economic growth, strengthen human capital, build resilience, and create opportunities for jobs and private sector investment.
Ms. Aissatou Diallo, new World Bank Group Country Manager for Sierra LeoneMs. Diallo brings nearly three decades of development finance experience, including more than two decades with the World Bank Group since joining in 2002. She has held a range of operational and leadership positions, with extensive experience in country leadership, portfolio oversight, policy dialogue, fiduciary assurance, partnership engagement, and fragile and conflict-affected situations across Africa and beyond. Prior to her appointment in Sierra Leone, she served for nearly four years as Resident Representative for Gabon. She also served as Resident Representative for Equatorial Guinea from October 2022 to June 30, 2025.

The World Bank Group is a long-standing development partner of Sierra Leone, supporting investments and reforms in human capital, agriculture, energy, water, social protection, governance, digital development, and private sector growth.
Ms. Diallo will be based in Freetown where she will lead the World Bank Group’s strategic engagement and Country Partnership Framework across a portfolio of nearly $1.2 billion.
