In a significant move to strengthen the nation’s migration governance, the Minister of Internal Affairs, AIG. Rtd. Morie Lengor Esq., has officially launched the National Implementation Plan for the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration.
The launch, which took place on October 21, 2025, at the Country Lodge Hotel in Hill Station, also marked the introduction of the new National Coordination Mechanism on Migration and the IOM Sierra Leone Country Strategy for 2025-2030. The event was attended by representatives from across government and key development partners.
This initiative, spearheaded by the Government of Sierra Leone in collaboration with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the UN Network on Migration, represents a pivotal milestone in the country’s national development trajectory. The coordinated plan aims to create a more structured and secure framework for migration management within the nation.
