In a boost for financial inclusion, residents of Waterloo and its surrounding environs will no longer need to undertake the arduous trip into Freetown to conduct their banking. The Rokel Commercial Bank (RCB) has opened a fully functional branch in the sprawling cosmopolitan headquarters of the Western Area Rural District. The opening, described by many residents as a major development for an area with limited access to formal financial services, cements the bank’s credentials as one of the fastest-growing financial institutions in the country. The Director of Banking Supervision, Sajoh Bah, hailed RCB as a “major trailblazer in the development of the banking industry in Sierra Leone” and called on the community to patronize the truly indigenous bank.
RCB Managing Director, Dr. Walton Ekundayo Gilpin, re-emphasized his management’s determination to pursue growth and market dominance, encouraging the Waterloo community to take ownership of the people-centered bank.
