TIME TO DISMANTLE ALL CAMPS WITHIN SLPP: FOR PEACE, UNITY, AND 2028 VICTORY

Sierra Leone is watching. The world is watching. And the time is now.

The just-concluded 14th National Delegates Conference of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) was a powerful demonstration of democratic maturity and grassroots strength. It was a moment of clarity – when ordinary members, young and old, boldly reaffirmed their stake in the future of the party by electing Hon. Jimmy Batilo Songa as National Chairman.

But this victory, while historic, is only the beginning.

If the SLPP is to secure a landslide victory in 2028, protect the enduring legacy of President Julius Maada Bio, and continue championing national transformation, then every camp, clique, and faction within the party must now be dissolved permanently.

Camps Divide, Unity Builds

The culture of internal camps, personalities over principles, and power struggles has long been a shadow over our great party. It creates mistrust, encourages sabotage, and weakens the very foundation of the SLPP – a party that has always stood for the people, by the people.

Now, more than ever, the party needs cohesion over competition, collaboration over conflict, and a renewed fraternity among comrades.

Batilo’s Leadership Needs Our Collective Support

Chairman Jimmy Batilo Songa and the newly elected national officers must be given the space, trust, and support to deliver strategic leadership and direction. They were chosen not by imposition, not by backdoor deals, but by the will of the delegates – a cross-section of the entire party machinery.

To second-guess their mandate is to second-guess the very soul of our democracy.

The Flagbearer race that lies ahead will require fairness, focus, and foresight. The leadership must be allowed to guide that process with full authority and transparency. No faction should feel entitled. No individual should be above party interest. The SLPP must rise above personalities and unite behind principles and a common purpose.

The Mission: 2028 and Beyond

Our mission is clear: a decisive national victory in 2028 to continue building the Sierra Leone we all deserve – a country of peace, progress, justice, and opportunity.

This victory will not be handed to us. It must be earned through hard work, discipline, and unity.

Let us protect and promote the legacy of President Bio – a legacy built on human capital development, free quality education, infrastructure growth, women’s empowerment, and international rebranding of Sierra Leone. But this legacy will only endure if the party remains united.

 Let the Healing Begin

We call on all comrades – elders, veterans, emerging leaders, women, youth, regional stakeholders, diaspora chapters, and grassroots foot soldiers – to lay down the banners of division and embrace one united SLPP.

Let the past be lessons, not anchors.

Let us channel our energy into strengthening the party, not weakening it from within.

Let us walk together into 2028 with confidence, strategy, and unity of purpose.
