Water is not Just a Basic Need, It’s a Tool for Transformation…Dr Antony Kingsley

#Freetown-25th July 2025-In a bid to continue the journey of Well Fund in Empowering Communities Across West Africa, the celebration of Well Found has enters into it third decade.  As part of the continues drive in moving into a new chapter in the humanitarian work, Well Fun CEO Dr Antony Kingsley said the organization stand at a critical moment of opportunity and challenge.

The CEO stated that the next chapter builds on one simple but powerful truth: water is not just a basic need, it’s a tool for transformation.  He pointed out that by using clean water as a foundation, the organization will tackle hunger through expanded, women-led market gardens and improve economic and social prosperity in the most vulnerable communities.

He cited that the road ahead is not easy. Climate change, political instability, and shrinking global funding are putting immense pressure on those who already have so little. In response, we are deepening our partnership with the communities we serving.

He recalled that it all begins with a simple moment:  when their founder, Howard, witnessed the hardship of people in Romania which spark of compassion ignited a journey that has since reached over 175,000 lives across West Africa.

He said from the very start, they made a rare commitment to spend 100% of all donations and grants directly on the ground. Many questioned if it could be sustained. Two decades on, that promise still defines them as an organization that believes in empowering communities.

“The work has always gone beyond installing wells. It’s about dignity, ownership, and enabling people to shape their own futures. We’ve now worked in over 200 villages, and in each, we’ve seen the potential for transformation rooted in community leadership, trust, and shared purpose” he said.

He said that as they look ahead, new challenges loom in climate change, inequality, and rising hardship. But our mission endures: to ensure no one is left behind, and that even the most remote families have the tools, hope, and opportunity to thrive.  He paid special thanks supporters, funders, trustees, staff, and volunteers, whose dedication and generosity have fuelled  WellFound’s 20-year journey.

He furthered recalled that over the past 20 years, WellFound’s success has been built on the unwavering dedication of the staff, volunteers, and trustees. Many have journeyed with us for over a decade, generously sharing their time, skills, and belief in our mission of dignity and hope. Often working quietly behind the scenes, their commitment has anchored our work in compassion and true community leadership.

Through their efforts, lives have been transformed—not only by the projects delivered but also by the trust and deep relationships formed with communities. To every staff member, volunteer, and trustee, past and present thank you for being the heartbeat of WellFound and driving our mission forward with passion and purpose.
