Over delayed Stipend…

Sierra Leonean Students in Russia Writes Government

After months of exhausting every diplomatic channel to resolve the delayed stipend payments with no meaningful response, we have been left with no choice but to escalate this matter publicly. The new academic year is set to commence in about a week and the Government of Sierra Leone has still not payed for the stipend of the previous academic year. it’s evident that we are starving and we’ve been left without funds for basic survival needs, insurance, accommodation and visa renewal.

Our demands

1. Immediate payment of all outstanding stipends

2. Guaranteed disbursement for the new academic year

3. A permanent solution to prevent future delays

In this moment of crisis, we must remember that our strength lies in our unity hence personal differences, past grievances, and or individual frustrations must not divide us now. They may delay, but they cannot ignore the united voice of determined students pursuing justice through peaceful means. Hence Myself and the entire executive is calling on each of you now to share this message far and wide, speak about our struggle to everyone who will listen and most  importantly, stand ready for if our demands continue to be ignored, we will take peaceful but very powerful actions together to ensure that our stipends are payed.

In Unity & Struggle,

Alfred Osman Kamara

President

National Union of Sierra Leone Students – Russian Federation
