NASSIT Embraces Digital Future to Revolutionize Pension Services

In a landmark announcement on Monday, the National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT) declared a comprehensive digital transformation of its operations, promising faster, more secure, and accessible services for all members.

The acting Director General, Mohammed Gondoe, unveiled the strategic initiative during the official launch of the 2025 NASSIT Customer Service Week at the Julius Maada Bio parade grounds in Wilberforce. Under the theme “Mission Possible,” Gondoe reaffirmed NASSIT’s commitment to becoming a center of excellence and bringing its services “closer to their esteemed members.”

This transformative move encompasses a suite of cutting-edge projects designed to modernize the entire pension ecosystem. The foundation has been laid with a complete upgrade of ICT infrastructure and rigorous data cleaning, ensuring seamless and secure daily operations.

Central to the overhaul is a web-based Pension Administration System, now 99% complete. This system will revolutionize how pensions are managed, covering everything from member enrollment to processing claims. It will be supported by web portals and mobile applications, allowing members and pensioners to access services at the touch of a button.

Further integrating its internal functions, NASSIT’s new web-based Enterprise Resource Planning system is 98% complete. This platform will unify Finance, Procurement, and Stores Management, fostering real-time data sharing and slashing operational costs.

In a groundbreaking step for security, NASSIT will soon roll out a Multi-Factor Biometric Registration System. Currently in the evaluation stage, this system will use advanced biometrics to register members and pensioners, drastically reducing fraud and ensuring record accuracy. It is scheduled to go live before the end of 2025.

Simultaneously, NASSIT launched a one-week service outreach to members of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF), establishing a dedicated workstation to address their needs.

The Chief of General Staff of the Sierra Leone Army, Major General S D T Ngagua, hailed the exercise as a clear demonstration of commitment to improving social protection for soldiers. “A steady run of the officer’s pension system will help them retire in peace after years of hard work,” he stated. Brigadier General M S Senesie, President of the Mens Committee of the Sierra Leone Army, expressed his confidence in the NASSIT administrators, describing them as “some of the finest professionals he has come across.”
