Citizens Feel The Pinch
The Government of Sierra Leone, through the National Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NPRA), has announced an immediate increase in the pump price of petroleum products for January 2026.

The new Petroleum Pricing Regime released by the Authority, retail price for both petrol and diesel has risen from NLe 25 to NLe 28.50 per litre.
The pricing adjustment affects all categories of petroleum products. The approved pump prices effective immediately are as follows:
The NPRA pricing structure indicates that the new prices are derived from a combination of global market costs and domestic economic factors. The breakdown cites the “Average Platts Prices” (FOB MED) ranging between $626 and $636 USD per metric ton for diesel and petrol respectively.
