Over the weekend, the Regional Manager of the North-West Region for the Planned Parenthood Association of Sierra Leone (PPASL), Mr. Samuel Yemeh Koroma, was honored with an award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the promotion and protection of children’s rights in Sierra Leone.
The award was presented by the Children’s Forum Network (CFN) during a well-attended event that brought together civil society actors, government officials, and youth advocates at the Freetown City Council Hall in Freetown. The recognition highlights Mr. Koroma’s decade plus years of dedicated service in advocating for child protection, access to education, health, and the well-being of vulnerable children, particularly in underserved communities.
Mr. Koroma has led several initiatives aimed at improving access to Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) information and services for adolescents and young people. His efforts have directly contributed to increasing awareness about child rights, reducing early marriages, and empowering young people to make informed decisions about their health and future.
This recognition reinforces PPASL’s commitment to advancing the rights of young people and promoting a safer, healthier future for all children in Sierra Leone.
