The Old Edwardians Now Club in the diaspora on Wednesday 21st January 2026 donated money to 44 former players of the club as well as the best player for 2025. The ceremony took place at the school grounds, Kingtom in Freetown. Mr. Patrick Dixon, Vice President of the organization assured the current players that if they excel in the National League this year they would increase their incentives to them and encouraged them to put up their best performance. He added that the donation is to motivate them to always give of their best stressing that they would not abandon them and recalled that last year, the team came sixth position in the league and urged them to clinch the trophy this year. The Vice President also revealed that the money donated is from their monthly contributions of 20 dollars from 22 members of the organization and appealed to other ex-players in the diaspora to join them. The organization was formed in 1980 and has been making donations to ex-players annually since 2016. Mr. Dixon recalled that due to his passion for the club, he cried when Ports Authority defeated the team 6-0 some years ago which he attributed to financial challenges at the time. According to Mr. Dixon, they plan to establish the Nahim Khadi Foundation to offer scholarships to pupils of the school who excel academically and in sports. The beneficiaries were selected from the ex-players executive in Freetown. Mr. Dixon further called on the ex-players to initiate projects that would generate income to make them self-reliant asserting that they would support such projects as long as they are accountable affirming that they are making a sacrifice to help their less fortunate brothers. He also encouraged them to be meeting monthly to reminiscent and keep the bond going reiterating that they are always ready to help. Some of the ex-players interviewed commended the gesture with a promise to judiciously utilize the money. Highlight of the ceremony was the distribution of the money.
