Kono District Honors Chief Fasuluku

Marking a significant milestone in Kono’s traditional leadership, Chief Sheku Amadu Tejan Fasuluku III of the Fasuluku clan in Sandor celebrated his 20th anniversary on the throne. Fondly nicknamed “Kono London” due to the area’s cool climate, Chief Fasuluku’s leadership has been a symbol of continuity, culture, and unity.

The event brought together prominent dignitaries from across the region, including the  “Youth MAMA of Kono*, Sia Evelyn Nyandemo, who stood proudly alongside community members in celebrating the chief’s legacy.

In a display of tradition and togetherness, Paramount Chiefs and key stakeholders from both neighbouring Chiefdoms convened for a concession meeting, reinforcing bonds and shared goals for local development.

Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ambassador Tamba Lamina, also graced the occasion, engaging warmly with his home Paramount Chief and other guests, including former Mayor of Koidu and Member of Parliament,  Emerson Saa Lamina and his mother.

The celebration served as a reminder of Kono’s wealth—not only in diamonds, gold, and timber—but in its rich vegetation, resilient people, and vibrant culture. “Kono is the place to be. We love, we care, and we are accommodating,” a proud participant shared.

As Chief Fasuluku took his seat amidst cheers and admiration, the event stood as a powerful tribute to tradition, leadership, and the enduring spirit of Kono.
