In a move to strengthen diplomatic and economic ties, the Indian High Commissioner to Sierra Leone, His Excellency B.C. Pradhan, paid a courtesy visit to the Hon. Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Nabeela Farida Tunis, at her King Harman Road office on Thursday.
The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation, particularly in the spheres of tourism, culture, and people-to-people exchanges. Both parties held fruitful discussions on creating opportunities for capacity building and skills development for officials within the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs. The engagement also explored collaborative frameworks for knowledge sharing and the exchange of cultural experiences.
Minister Tunis highlighted Sierra Leone’s growing tourism potential and extended a warm invitation to the Indian business community to explore investment opportunities in the country’s tourism and hospitality sector. She underscored the nation’s natural beauty, rich heritage, and emerging position as a peaceful and authentic destination in West Africa.
The Minister further noted that India’s vibrant travel market, with over 50 million tourists journeying abroad each year, presents an immense opportunity for Sierra Leone. She encouraged joint initiatives to promote cultural festivals, film collaborations, and culinary exchanges, thereby strengthening the bond between the two nations. His Excellency B.C. Pradhan commended the Ministry’s vision under Minister Tunis’s leadership and reaffirmed India’s commitment to working closely with Sierra Leone to foster sustainable tourism growth and cultural cooperation.
The visit concluded on a note of optimism, with both sides agreeing to explore practical steps to transform the discussions into concrete partnerships.
