In a significant breakthrough, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Regional Office in Kono has uncovered thirteen (13) cartoons of Free Health Care drugs clandestinely stored in one of the male toilets at the Koidu Government Hospital, following an intelligence from a whistleblower.
Upon receipt of the intelligence, the Regional Investigation Unit of the ACC swiftly mounted an operation at the hospital. The operation led to the discovery of the drugs hidden in an area clearly unbefitting for the storage of such essential and life-saving medical supplies.
Two individuals have been arrested in connection with the matter and are currently in custody assisting with the ongoing investigation.
The Commission has pledged to continue to rigorously monitor the management, accountability, and distribution chain of the Free Health Care drugs, a program specifically designed to serve vulnerable populations, including pregnant women, lactating mothers, and children under five.
