The Secretary General of the opposition All People’s Congress (APC), Lansana Dumbuya, has been invited for questioning by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) concerning allegations of incitement and cyber bullying.
Dumbuya is expected to appear at the CID headquarters in Freetown on Wednesday, 4th February 2026. The summons follows a public address he delivered during a recent APC mass rally at the Attouga Mini Stadium in eastern Freetown, remarks which have drawn scrutiny from state regulators.
This police action coincides with a separate sanction imposed on the APC by the Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC) earlier this week. The PPRC fined the party NLe350,000, directly citing “incitement” from Dumbuya’s stadium address. The Secretary General himself confirmed the CID invitation via a post on his social media platform yesterday.
The developments mark a significant escalation in the ongoing tensions between the main opposition party and state regulatory bodies.
