China Bolsters Sierra Leone’s Diplomacy with Vehicle Donation

In a move that strengthens bilateral relations, the Chinese Embassy has donated two new utility vehicles to Sierra Leone’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. The handover ceremony, held on October 17, 2025, at the Ministry’s headquarters, highlighted China’s commitment to enhancing Freetown’s diplomatic operational capacity.

Chinese Ambassador, His Excellency Wang Qing, emphasized that the donation transcends material support. “This contribution signifies a steadfast commitment to Sierra Leone’s institutional efficacy,” he stated. Ambassador Wang praised the Ministry’s vital role in advancing foreign relations and reaffirmed China’s dedication to the enduring partnership.

Sierra Leone’s Foreign Minister, Alhaji Timothy Musa Kabba, accepted the vehicles with profound appreciation, calling the gesture a testament to the resilient 54-year friendship between the two nations. He expressed eagerness to deepen cooperation on both bilateral and multilateral platforms to ensure mutual progress and prosperity.

Reflecting on the historic partnership, Minister Kabba highlighted China’s enduring legacy in Sierra Leone, citing iconic infrastructures like the National Stadium and Youyi Building, as well as critical assistance during the Ebola and COVID-19 crises. He further noted that expanding collaboration in academia, scientific innovation, defense, and trade are clear indicators of a dynamic and evolving relationship.

The ceremony concluded with both nations reaffirming their commitment to a future of enhanced cooperation. Sierra Leone extended its sincere gratitude to the Chinese Embassy for its consistent solidarity and support.
