Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran, His Excellency Salamu Koroma, today joined fellow ambassadors, international business leaders, and partners at the opening of the 14th International Exhibition on Investment Opportunities in Iran’s Mines and Mining Industries (Minex 2025). The event, held at Tehran’s Imam Khomeini Mosalla, runs from October 1–3, 2025.
Opening the ceremony, Mohammad Reza Bahraman, Vice Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Head of the Mines Association, described Minex as one of Iran’s most important industry gatherings. He said the platform creates opportunities for experience-sharing, identifying new projects, and exploring development strategies, while emphasizing the central role of minerals in national economies. Mr. Bahraman noted Iran’s push to reduce dependence on oil and gas by focusing on mining as a driver of growth, technology transfer, and international partnerships.

Also speaking, Samad Hassanzadeh, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture, highlighted the exhibition’s value in attracting investment, showcasing technological achievements, and building resilience in the mining sector. He explained that specialized meetings and workshops will tackle industry priorities, including a session on “Resilience, Investment, and Technology Development in the Circular Economy of Mines and Metal Industries.”
Mr. Hassanzadeh further stressed the crucial role of the private sector in sustainable economic development, urging governments to ensure easier access to mineral transportation and to work more closely with businesses. He said Iran could become a strategic partner for countries interested in mining investment.
The opening climaxed with the symbolic ribbon-cutting by Ambassador Koroma and other heads of mission, after which the exhibition officially commenced.
