One of the leading mobile networks in the country “Africell”, on Thursday 31st July 2025 officially launched the 2025/2026 Africell Sierra Leone Fantasy Football Premier League competition. The ceremony was held at the Africell Headquarters, Wilberforce in Freetown.
Speaking at the launching, the Digital Supervisor for “Africell” Jaria Bah underscored the importance of the competition, adding that the Fantasy league can be done through a website which will enable subcribers to register with a personal email.
She said as a tradition Africell believe in giving back to the people while using the forum to give a detailed background of the Fantasy league, it importance and how It will benefit players.
Explaining the process of playing, the Media Relation Manager, Abdul Aziz Kamara said Africell has put in place star prize of NLe100,000, 70,000 as second prize, 60,000 as third prize and 45,000 for the fourth position.
He said team manager can select players from the Premier League, make strategic transfers, and earn points based on real-life performances.
He encouraged all to play the Fantasy league by going to Africell website and select the process that will lead you to play. He said the team Manager can select a team of 15 to compete in the league. As a team manager you have the right to buy players and transfer them based on the 100 Africell will provide to managers.
He said as team manager you can also buy players post their pictures and perform other administrative work just like normal team manager and ensure your team wins game.
He said player can also do team transfer as and when the need arises but within the Le 100 budget that will be provided to you by Africell. He said good players are also given points but can be well reduce when one is given a red card or yellow card.
In his statement, the Marketing and Communication Manager, Kamanda Kororma said fantasy competition is based on competency. He said over 1,400 players will compete since they game is open to all.
