Gay Activist Benjamin Williams on the Run

Gay activist, Benjamin Williams of Wellington Wharf Community, East of the Capital, Freetown is wanted by the police, after been reported by the community to have recruited young boys into gay activism. Wellington Wharf is a slum dwelling community with a strong religious presence. Majority of the inhabitants are either Christians or Muslims and anything deem devilish is frown upon.

Report states that on 18th December of 2025, community people led by police officers were on their way to Benjamin Williams’s house when the young man got wind their arrival and intention.

Information gathered reveals that the Gay Activist was able to escape from the community before stakeholders including youth could descend on him.

Benjamin Williams who has been an advocate for Gay rights got into trouble when other young boys in the community started joining him and where now challenging their families on such ungodly practice.

The situation got out of hands when on 18th December 2025, Benjamin Williams openly stage an advocacy session on same sex in the community leading to community stakeholders deciding to deal with him. Police were called in but could not lay hands on the young man who narrowly escape from the community. The whereabouts of Benjamin Williams is still unknown, and not even family members or close friends could tell his current location.

The community has vow to deal with him and any other person related to him or caught advocating for same practice within the community. The home of Benjamin Williams during this period was completely vandalize, with his properties destroyed in the event.  

Sierra Leone is among countries in Africa that frowns on same sex marriage and activities as this is not part of the country’s culture and tradition. People who practice or advocate for same sex risk been killed or go to jail for a very long time and nothing will come out of it. People have been, killed, injured and jailed for advocating for or practicing same sex. It is a taboo to openly practice same sex or advocate for same in Sierra Leone. Information gathered reveals that Benjamin Williams house was completely vandalized leaving members of his household in complete disarray. Nobody currently knows the whereabouts of Benjamin neither members of his family as his home came under attack during the raid. Benjamin Williams and members of his household are nowhere to been seen since the day of the incident. In 2004 Fanny Ann Eddy was murdered in her office in Freetown in a crime that remains unsolved. The lesbian activist was severally stabbed and her neck broken. The case of the right activist never saw the day of light. Benjamin Williams might find himself in same situation if he returns to community or been caught.
