Sierra Leone’s Vice President, Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, today, Friday 10 October 2025, launched nationwide consultations on police reforms in Port Loko, Northwest region, that is aimed at transforming the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) from a force into a service focused on community policing, professionalism, and stronger public partnerships.
At the high-level stakeholder meeting the Vice President said, “This is the first in a series of public education engagements” as the government embarks on transforming the Sierra Leone Police from a force into a service centred on “community oriented policing, strengthening professionalism, building partnerships and improving the internal policing culture.”
He added, “I was impressed by the interest of the public and stakeholders … the turnout was massive,” noting that he saw that as a clear sign that citizens were ready to engage in reshaping the role of the police in their communities.
The reform drive comes amid ongoing efforts by the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) to modernize operations, enhance accountability, and deepen public trust.
